At Explore Interactive we are very much aware of the
development in the area of handheld devices and can as the first publisher of
walking guides offer guides on electronic format that can be easily transferred
to such devices. All walk descriptions and maps on our CD's are available on a
format suitable for transfer to a handheld device. The formats used are standard
rich text format (RTF) for the text files and standard JPG format for the maps. These are file formats which a wide range of handheld devices can display. This
includes pocket PC's, electronic personal organisers such as certain Palm models
and Smartphones.
If your handheld device supports these file types, have sufficient capacity and
you have your PC set up for file transfer to your handheld device you only need
to select the walk texts and maps you want to transfer. No additional program
needs to be installed on your handheld or on your PC. The typical files
size is 10-15kb for one walk description and 400-800kb for one map.
